
Guanajuato, Gto., May 20, 2016. The University of Guanajuato (UG) invites to the conference "The elusive solidarity. Citizen attitudes towards the victims of the organized criminal violence", that will be given by the expert in Political Science, Dr. Andreas Schedler, scholar from the Center of Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE for its acronym in Spanish).
The event will take place on Friday May 27th at 11:00 sharp in the Hall of Acts of the Division of Law, Politics, and Government.
Dr. Schedler is a Doctor in Political Science by the University of Vienna; Professor-Researcher from the Division of Political Studies from CIDE and member of the National Researchers System (SNI), Level 3.
His research has focused in the transition and democratic consolidation; the rendition of accounts and the electoral authorities from a compared perspective. He has vast published work in specialized magazines of great impact in Political Science and the most important university editorials in the world.
Among his books, remark "La política de la incertidumbre en los regímenes electorales autoritarios", "El fin de la política: exploraciones sobre la antipolítica moderna" & "El estado autoregulado: poder y rendición de cuentas en democracias nacientes", which he coordinated with Larry Diamond and Marc Plattner. His last publication, "En la iebla de la guerra", explores how the organized criminal violence and its atrocious normalization inhibits the mobilization of citizens, which is indispensable to consolidate an effective State of Law in the country.
The master conference from Dr. Schedler is organized by the Academic Body "Democracia, Sociedad Civil y Libertades" and the Department of Political Studies and Government from UG.
