
Guanajuato, Gto., May 24, 2016.- University authorities made a public recognition to the youth in the Student's Brigade of Emergencies from the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA) from Campus Guanajuato and the Firefighter Body of Silao, not only for the first places obtained, but in particular for their social solidarity and integrity.
Both the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, as DCEA's Director, Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López, recognized the first and fourth place obtained in the sixth edition of the National Interuniversity Tournament of Emergency Brigades is a merit, but is more the dedication and involvement of an activity such as this one.
"The way people so young are willing to sacrifice part of their time and even their integrity for other people in a society that deprives individualism, to have people like you, is proof of your values and nobleness, is a pride for the University of Guanajuato to have youth like you", sustained Dr. Corona Fernández.
The brigadiers were offered a breakfast, where Juan Pablo Arce Macías, President of the Patronage of Firefighters of Silao, thanked at the same time to UG who has always received them with open arms to train youth and have a comprehensive formation for their future jobs, with which Commander Álvaro Maldonado agreed to as well as present instructors, who spoke about the excellent labor from the brigadiers in recent forest fires.
On her part, Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López, reaffirmed that this labor of social liaison from the students, promotes the values and solidarity, and vowed so this kind of efforts to multiply, which are coordinated by two professors who have strongly supported the brigades: Gilberto Barrientos and Juan Arturo Castro.
It is important to mention that the Student's Brigade of Emergencies from the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA) from Campus Guanajuato, participated in the sixth edition of the National Interuniversity Tournament of Emergency Brigades, where the female brigade obtained the first place and the fourth place was for the male brigade, improving their 2015 score, when they obtained the third general place.
In this edition of the tournament carried out on April 21 and 22 in the Training School of Emergency Brigades (ECBE) from the city of Celaya, participated universities from all over the country: Universidad Autónoma de México, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Universidad de León, Instituto Tecnológico de Celaya, Instituto Tecnológico de Roque, among others.
The University of Guanajuato was represented by 14 students from DCEA and one from the Division of Engineering, coordinated by Lic. Gilberto Barrientos García, also responsible for the Social Service at DCEA, and advised by Prof. Juan Arturo Castro López.
Among the trials the brigadiers have to make, we find: fire combat with a pressurized hose, fire combat with extinguishers, search and rescue in the "smoke house", attention of leaks of hazardous materials and obstacle rally, in which the youth put all their knowledge to practice.
The social service project of UG brigades born in 2010 with the objective to form promoters of the security and hygiene and civil protection in their university community and divulgators of the culture of prevention in their places of origin. This project is considered of high social impact and contributes to the goals of the Plan of Institutional Development of the university of Guanajuato.
The students who attended the 6th Interuniversity Tournament of Emergency Brigades from the National Association of Chemical Industry are: David Manuel Magallanes Haro, Cesar Daniel Gutiérrez Valadez and Yolanda Mendoza Cano from the degree in International Trade; Moisés Uriel Tapia Corona, María Guadalupe Hernández Montes, Cynthia Isela Rosales López and Ana Erika Trejo Arenas from the degree of Industrial Relationships.
Likewise, Eduardo García Medina and Liliana Anahí García Romero from the degree in Public Accountant and Verónica García Navarro from Environmental Engineering in Mines, as well as Prof. Gilberto Barrientos García, Coordinator; Juan Arturo Castro López, Professor-Advisor and General Coordinator, Isabel Gudiño Murillo.
