The Commitment Letter was signed by UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, within the last session he was Executive President of the West Central Region of the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES).
As honor witnesses, Lic. Roberto Campa Cifrián, Subsecretary of Human Rights from SEGOB; el M. Jaime Valls Esponda, Executive General Secretary of ANUIES & Lic. Joaquín Narro Lobo, Technical Secretary of the "Consejo Consultivo de la Comisión Nacional de Derechos Humanos", signed the letter.
Background
It is important to mention that after the institutional reform that broadened the catalogue and protection regime of the human rights in Mexico, SEGOB sought the support from different sectors and designed diverse strategies –such as the Commitment Letter—to divulge this new legal scheme.
ANUIES' Executive General Secretary signed the letter on February 18th this year, and then was proposed that every university in the country to individually adhere, to reaffirm the interest to contribute in the construction of a new culture of respect to all fundamental rights.
Is in this context that UG reiterates its commitment to work in constructing a university responsible, democratic and solidary citizenship.
