
Guanajuato, Gto., May 27, 2016.- A tribute to the vedettes shows is what the company "La Cabaretera Escenica" proposes with the montage "Noche de recuerdos" (Night of memories), play written, produced and acted by Ivanna Tovar, who is part of the first generation of the degree in Scenic Arts from the University of Guanajuato. Also part of the cast: Ángela González from the first generation; Rebecca Soto, student of the second generation; Omar Devil and Carlos Aguirre, applicants for the degree in Scenic Arts.
In a press conference, Ivanna Tovar highlighted that being her one of the few artists that work in cabaret in Bajío, and being a project of students, this work is totally new and fresh for the city of Guanajuato, hence, she expects to be interest in the diverse public to come to the premier.
About "Night of Memories", she said that it is an homage to the vedettes who rose very high the cabaret-theater in Mexico, for what the play is, precisely, about the rise and fall: "it is a tribute full of respect, warmth and admiration to these women who were criticized in the 70s for bringing burlesque to the main theaters of Mexico with full seating. The objective is to remind them and give them again life to their names".
She also thanked the support from the University of Guanajuato and specially from the Department of Arts for putting this montage together and the development of this project that as behind a research work, since this play will be their title exam, in fact, the first thesis to be presented in such degree.
Professor David Eudave, scholar from the Department of Arts, commented that the degree in Scenic Arts (which began in 2012) was a debt the university had with the theater tradition and is part of the essence of the city of Guanajuato, hence, it is very grateful that next June the first generation graduates.
Furthermore, he was pleased that 30 students will graduate next month, almost all of them have incorporated to work projects, so much that those who majored in acting as those who majored in dance: "it is a challenge for any scenic artist to find a job. The degree is worried and occupied so its students are artists capable of negotiating their own work projects. [...] They're very well prepared for the real world" he said."
"Night of memories. Tribute for vedettes" premiers next Wednesday June 1st in the Teatro Principal, with a double function at 18:00 and 20:00 hours. The invitation is open for the public. It is a who for teenagers and adults.
