Guanajuato, Gto., May 31, 2016. Starting this year, the University of Guanajuato (UG) will have a Center of Studies and Actions for the Social and Human Development, a space where besides forming committed professionals with their environment, will be privileged by the liaison with diverse sectors and active participation of the citizens in the Center's projects.

With the creation of the Center of Studies and Actions for the Social and Human Development, widens the objectives and reach of the Department of Studies of Culture and Society, from the Division of Social Sciences and Human Studies, which will be suppressed. Both proposals were approved by the University General Council, in the ordinary session on May 27th.

This university project will be transversal, it will involve the efforts of the four campuses and ten high schools of the High School College. Nevertheless, it will not imply hiring personnel, they will take advantage of the installed capability and will be coordinated by a professor -from which collaborate—designated by the General Rector.

Initially, the Center will have three general lines of research and action; Heritage (cultural and natural), Sustainable Community Development (rural, urban and suburban) and Bioethics. However, these could diversify starting from the link with other researchers from UG or other institutions.

The mission of the Center will be to prioritize the search for solutions to the most urgent problems in the state through research projects and activities of extension, liaison and management, with humanistic sense and interdisciplinary work, seeking the active participation of the community in the development of projects for the common benefit.

It is considered for this project to begin function in an approximate time of five months, and any professor from UG could participate in any of the research and action lines developed in the center.
