León, Gto., May 31, 2016. The university community homage Dr. Gabriel Cortés Gallo, Director of the Department of Medicine and Nutrition of Campus León, who after 30 years of service and multiple contribution in the health area, announced his retirement.

Dr. Cortés Gallo "represents one of the greatest strengths of the University, is part of that plethora of college men who have dedicated their entire life for the institution", and it is, above all, an exemplary human being, held the General Rector of the House of Studies, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino.

Member of the 62-68 generation in the then School of Medicine of UG, Dr. Gabriel Cortés has collaborated in his Alma Mater as a teacher, researcher and founder of the Research Center in Bioethics, Coordinator of Postgraduate and University councilmen, among other charges.

With a trajectory of more than 30 years, in the medical practice he is a renowned pediatrician and one of the emblematic scholars from Campus León; although his accomplishments also stand out as a public servant, always in the area of health.

Representing the university community, Dr. Cortés Gallo received a thank you and a recognition for the decades dedicated to the service of the institution and reminded that "represents a pillar for our House of Studies, which always will be his home."

In an emotional message, the Rector of Campus León, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, expressed his deep gratitude to his teacher –Dr. Gabriel Gallo—of whom he praised his ethic, calling and leadership in interdisciplinary workgroups. "A master who has dedicated to teach with humbleness and generosity", he said.

It was the responsibility of the Coordinator of the degree in Medical Surgeon, Dr. Francisco Ernesto González Bravo, to read the semblance of the homage, to whom he referred as a "master by nature".

At the ceremony were present Dr. Cortés' family, friends and colleagues, directors of the house of studies, as well as the Academic Secretary of Campus, Dr. Luxana Reynaga Ornelas; the Director of the Division of Health Sciences, Dr. Tonatiuh García Campos, and the Academic Secretary of this Division, Dr. Cipriana Caudillo Cisneros, among other members of the university community.
