
Salvatierra, Gto., June 4, 2016.- Doctors Rocío Rosas Vargas and Marilú León Andrade, professors of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, dictated the conference "Equity of Gender", organized by the "Instituto de la Mujer" from the city of Salvatierra.
The conference was given in the City Hall's patio, where women from the communities of Maravatío del Encinal, Las Canoas, Las Cruces, San José del Carmen, la Quemada, Cupareo, Ejido San Juan, Santo Tomas Huatzindeo, San Pedro, y Urireo, among others, attended. The last two, are the ones that have presented a higher index of violence against women in 2016.
They explained to the women the importance of valuing themselves and knowing the basic rights such as the right for health, life, to be treated with respect, to the information, education, right to reject petitions that violate the integrity and freedom.
Through group dynamics, the scholars Rocío Vargas and Marilú Andrade invited the attendees to participate and comment aspects of their everyday life to know if they live in a violent environment.
Dr. Rocío Rosas Vargas explained that many times, the type of violence is unknown, and it's lived as a normal part of life of many women, "you have to tell difference an abuse, the violence exists and affects, constitutes an assault against dignity, freedom and integrity, independent of the area where it produces, the first thing is to have self-esteem to identify abuse."
The talks develop within the framework of the institutional collaboration between Campus Celaya-Salvatierra and the city of Salvatierra through the "Instituto Municipal de las mujeres", who is responsible for reproducing the conferences in the furthest communities in the region during 2016.
"We have talked with the mayor José Herlindo Velázquez as well as with the "Instituto de la Mujer", who is interested in repeating the program in the furthest communities, informing the basic rights helps awaken the awareness in women who still live in margination" finalized Dr. Rocio Rosas Vargas.
