
Salvatierra, Gto., June 3, 2016.- Students from the degrees in Agro-industrial and Agribusiness Engineering from Campus Celaya-Salvatierra from the University of Guanajuato visited the Berry Center of the Foundation "Guanajuato Produce A.C.", located in Santiago Maravatío del Encinal, where fifty students participated in a visit to the greenhouse and conferences about the production of Berrys' berries.
Through a tour, they saw the technical handling of the greenhouse and the most recurrent diseases in the culture of berries: strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberries.
Lic. Karla Razo, responsible of the tour from the Foundation Guanajuato Produce A.C. explained the importance of divulging the knowledge of the production in the region and above all in the new generations, to link them with society.
"Our labor is to create awareness of the productive process and create the diffusion of the importance of the task in the agricultural sector, in this personal case of the "Secretaría de Desarrollo Agroalimentario y Rural", and the "Comité Estatal de Sanidad del Estado de Guanajuato", will give us important conferences on the handling of risk, and the most common diseases of what we call berrys" added Karla Razo.
The youth tour the cultures and watched closely the plants with the most common diseases, made questions and analyzed the possibilities of the commercialization by planting other products that can cultivate in the zone of Salvatierra.
Dr. Benito Rodríguez Haros and Dr. Tarsicio Medina, organizers of the practice with students of the second and eighth semesters respectively, pointed out that it is important to approach the students with the producers in the field practices made by the degrees in Agro-industrial and Agribusiness Engineering. Also to help through practice of knowing the new emergent cultures in the region.
The training provided by the Foundation "Guanajuato Produce" is aimed to the producers in the region and the approach with the students links the possibility to create new commercial routes with these new degrees offered by the University of Guanajuato.
