Guanajuato, Gto., June 3, 2016.- The board of directors of the Student's Association Council of Earth Sciences (CODECIT) was renewed for the period 2016-2018, an organization constituted by students of the educative programs taught in the Division of Engineering and whose vision is to take the University of Guanajuato to be renowned as the best school in Mine, Metallurgy and Geology Engineering in Latin America.

During the ceremony made in the Auditorium "Eng. Salvador Yáñez Castro", the Director of the Division of Engineering, Dr. Luis Enrique Mendoza Puga, highlighted that in his administration, they have sought support from organized groups with initiatives and entrepreneurs, such is the case of CODECIT, that in the beginning negotiated conferences, but with time took a great magnitude and bigger challenges as it has been, among others, the installation of the information system Geoinfomex.

Dr. Mendoza recognized in that sense, the work from the outgoing president from CODECIT, Abel López Almanza and committed the support to the new president, Julio César Tampa Lomelí, so they can achieve their primordial objectives: be the best student group in Earth Sciences in Mexico.

In representation of the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino; M. Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, Director of Student Development, precise that students are the power and energy to make these projects, hence, the labor of student organizations must be projected as a sole unit that represents the university; for which it is important to join visions.

On his part, Eng. Luis Eduardo Calderón Rivas, Coordinator of Encouragement to the Comprehensive Development of the Student, representing the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, recognized the negotiation and results from 2014-2016 from the students who were in charge of the council.

Currently CODECIT offers 15 products among which are included: surveys, conferences, courses, visits to the industry, social support, elaboration of videos, among others.

The student organization's vision is to encourage the academic and practical development of students from the degree in Mine, Metallurgy and Geology Engineering by providing experiences, knowledge and necessary tools through an interdisciplinary work from students, in mutual respect and cooperation with the university, society and industry.

In addition of taking an oath from the new board, there was a delivery of the following recognitions to: Abel López Almanza as founder and first president; Víctor Eduardo Ramírez Flores as co-founder, administrator and first designer; Pedro Víctor Hugo Porcayo Bieza as Coordinator of Ecology and first coordinator of projects and Jorge Omar Montero Romero as Coordinator.
