León, Gto., June 6, 2016.- With the participation of Dr. Teodora Hurtado Saa, professor-researcher of the Division of Social Sciences and Human Studies from Campus León, there was the seminar "Los estudios de género: feminidades, masculinidades y perspectivas teóricas actuales". Sustains that there is a current generalized concern on the topic, and for the University of Guanajuato (UG) this is a problem of great importance.

She explained that the condition of gender has three fundamental elements: a vertical structure where men and women are different in the relations of power; second, the gender is everywhere, this concept relies on multiple meanings product of social constructions that manifest in different manner in society, and third, there is a transversal condition, given the conditions of oppression that the women may experience is structural in all the fields and areas of society.

Dr. Hurtado Saa highlighted that today is not possible to refer solely to the gender, the discussion must be broadened and not rely only on the context of women, but consider that between the feminine and the masculine there are other identities, where other social groups in search for gender equity manifest.

Between the attendees there was the participation of the students from the degrees in Social Anthropology and Public Management, who exposed their research work regarding the topic.

The panelists intervened with the topics: Educación sexuada, Gamers: sometimiento y empoderamiento, Las Kassandra: una lucha cotidiana de una minoría transgénero, Tres miradas de la masculinidad, El masculinismo ¿la(s) masculinidad(es) en crisis?, Desarrollo y género: análisis interdisciplinario de experiencias vitales en la zona metropolitana en Guadalajara, lastly the panel: Políticas públicas con perspectiva de género en el municipio de León.
