
Guanajuato, Gto., June 8, 2016.- The Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG), will present the concert called "Little Russia", next Friday at the Teatro Principal at 20:30 hrs.
This time, they'll have the guest director James Sedares and pianist Carlos Salmerón. The attendees will be able to listen a diverse repertoire of the renowned and outstanding composers. Antonin Dvořák, Béla Bartók and Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky.
In the beginning, the orchestra will play the "Operture Carnival, Op. 92" of Antonin Dvořák. This piece is distinguished by the elements of party that compose the twirls the play begins with, and at the same time has a lyric fun of the second theme of the violins. On the other side, there are elements that frame a poetry meditation where the English horn, a flute, a clarinet and a violin dialogue.
"Concert for piano No.3, Sz. 119" of Béla Bartók is the second play, which premiered on February 8th 1846 in the Academy of Music of Philadelphia. The music analyst John Weissmann, mentioned that this concert highlights the transparency in the tones and the serenity of the feelings expressed with that simplicity which is the last inspiration of Bartók.
Lastly, OSUG will play the Symphony No.2 in C minor, Op. 17 "Little Russia" of Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky. The play was dedicated "to the section of Moscow of the Russian Imperial Society of Music" and officially premiered in Moscow on January 26th 1873 with Nicolai Rubinstein in the baton. The definitive version was presented for the first time on February 12th 1881 in St. Petersburg with Karl Zike as director.
Parting from the different popular Ukrainian melodies from where the composer helps throughout the play, the critic and friend of Tchaikovsky, Nicolai Kashkin called it "Little Russia", which is how the Russian call the part of Ukraine that belonged to the czar empire.
It is precise to mention that the guest director James Sedares, has proven to be one of the best and most brilliant, of a new generation of American directors.
Recently, he concluded his sixth season as a guest director, in the Vector Wellington Orchestra, in Wellington, New Zealand. Last season, James Sedares debuted with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Rotterdam, and has his first launch with the prestigious label, Deutsche Grammophone Lable, with a presentation of the "Oratoria Joshua" of Franz Waxman, performed by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Then debuting in cities such as Mumbai, London and Seoul.
On his part, Carlos Salmerón, the guest soloist, is from Mexico City, he studies in the Superior School of Music of Queen Sofia and the International Institute of Chamber Music in Madrid, after concluding the degree as pianist in the Superior School of Music from INBA in Mexico.
He has been soloist of the National Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic of Aguascalientes, Symphonic from the state of Puebla, Chamber Orchestra of Bellas Artes, Chamber Orchestra of Morelos and the Chamber Orchestra Idée Fixe.
