
Guanajuato, Gto., June 9, 2016.- With the purpose to encourage the taste for the scientific activity, students from the University of Guanajuato (UG) participate in the program of UG Summers of Scientific Research.
This program consists in a 5-week-stay, where the youth has the opportunity to develop real projects with active researchers from the Maximum House of Studies, as well as the opportunity of exposing the results of this research stay in an Institutional Congress.
UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino welcomed all the participants, and said that this project is a form to approach the student community to the world of research, emphasized that the learning is the same that increases with the approximation to practice.
The program of research summers from UG began 22 years ago, through which, has established collaborations with diverse institutions and scientific societies to build this program and their distinct modalities.
This year, 452 students will participate in the summers of scientific research from the University of Guanajuato, which have allocated in an important place to stimulate the taste for science in the new generations.
The professor of the Department of Food from the Division of Life Sciences of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca from UG and participant of the first generation of UG Summers, Marielena Sosa Morales highlighted that the summers began in 1994 and expressed that this was a forming experience that also provides the opportunity to know people with diverse knowledge. She also recognized the effort from UG to provide the students the tools for the comprehensive formation.
The Director of Support to Research and Postgraduate from UG, Dr. Mauro Napsuciale Mendivil congratulated the students for involving in this topic and made clear that the trajectory of this program imposes the challenge of thinking in new forms of attracting youth to the world of research and motivate them towards the discovery of new things.
From UG were present the Pro Vost, Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa; Academic Secretary, Dr. José Luis Lucio Martínez; as well as the Rectors of Campus Guanajuato, Campus Irapuato-Salamanca and Campus Celaya-Salvatierra; among other university authorities.
