Guanajuato, Gto., June 9, 2016.- A collection of nearly 12,000 volumes on diverse knowledge –philosophy, mathematics, literary essay, political theory, classical Greek and Latin poetry and from the century of gold, Mexican history, ancient geography, among other topics—gives birth to the "Fund Emilio Uranga", which already has a permanent site in the Library Luis Rius from the Division of Social Sciences and Human Studies (DCSH) from Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG), thanks to the donation from the state government to UG through the "Instituto Estatal de la Cultura de Guanajuato (IECG)."

In the opening act, the Rector from Campus Guanajuato of UG, Dr. Javier Corona recognized the management work done by the current director of DCSH, Dr. Aureliano Ortega Esquivel, so the ancient library Emilio Uranga became part of the bibliographic heritage of this division.

In this matter, thanked the head of the IECG, Dr. Juan Alcocer for making possible that the students and professors from the degrees in Human Studies from UG have the opportunity to consult first hand this valuable collection. He also thanked M. Luis Palacios, scholar from DCSH and M. Alejandro Contreras, coordinator of the State Network of Public Libraries, for his active management and total support of the moving tasks.

Evoking the figure of the philosopher Emilio Uranga, said "[...] having this bibliographical fund in our university is important because it shelters those titles and authors with which, agreeing or disagreeing, conformed his thinking one of the most representative authors of the second half of the XX century, outstanding member of the philosophical group "Hyperon."

On his part, Dr. Juan Alcocer was convinced that the library Luis Rius is the best place to shelter and divulge this acquis: "facing technology, Google and other information systems, libraries have a new mission, be functioning as shapers and, of course, serve research. Therefore, there is no better place for this new life of the "Fund Emilio Uranga" than this school of Philosophy."

Editor Octavio Torija reminded that early 1989, being him responsible of the state's editorial, background of the current editorial "La Rana", and through a phone call, back then, the state governor, Lic. Rafael Contreras Ayala, announced that he would receive a truck loaded with several boxes with books. These boxes contained nearly 11,000 volumes, between books and magazines, that belonged to the illustrious philosopher Emilio Uranga, youth friend of the politician, who had passed away a few months earlier (October 31st 1988).

However, he said, opening the library for the public (located in Paseo de la Presa), despite the magnificent works that compose this "lovingly constructed library in the most lucid stages of the philosopher", was barely visited by few readers, so he was optimistic that this new house would be more appropriate: "now I trust that this library will have eager readers."

The cut of the ribbon was made by the Director of Cultural Extension from UG, Dr. Sara Julsrud López, in representation of the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino; Dr. Juan Alcocer Flores and Dr. Javier Corona Fernández.

The opening of this fund was made within the framework of the Encounter "Philosophy without frontiers, Arguments towards Mexican Philosophy", which summons the most connoted researchers on ancient and contemporary Mexican philosophy, so along three days (June 9, 10 & 11) examine and discuss the ideas and most important trends in the subject.
