
León, Gto., June 10, 2016.- Laura Noemi Paredones Troncoso, student from the tenth semester of the degree in Social Work from Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG), is one of the selected to travel to Colombia as part of the project of Citizen Participation to work with vulnerable groups in Bogota.
The UG student will be in Colombia from July 4th to August 6th to be part of the project of Citizen Participation that gathers youth in Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico with the purpose to develop projects aimed to groups in vulnerable situations that have the objective to provide wellbeing, overcome inequality and even promote the social inclusion.
Laura Noemi explained that looks to develop competencies, obtain experience and know the culture of another country to later develop projects that will be applied to vulnerable groups in Mexico, besides creating networks with people from other countries to work together in benefit of society.
"The program will allow me to continue learning, besides applying what I've been taught in the classrooms and socialize directly with vulnerable groups, besides knowing how the Colombian organizations work in similar problems to what we live in our country" commented in an interview.
It is important to mention that Laura Noemí was selected among 1600 applicants and considers that her experience in the community work and its participation in distinct projects that has developed in her stay in the University were the reasons why she was selected. One of Noemi's plans is to share the experience and motivate that students from UG dear to leave the country and live the experience.
Lastly, Noemí expressed the importance of knowing the culture of another country and broaden their knowledge, in addition of having a distinct perspective of the social problems that present in other nation and the professional demands that has to cover to offer alternative solutions.
