Guanajuato, Gto., June 13, 2016.- A wide selection of pieces, that go from ball room music –such as "El Vals sobre las olas" of Juventino Rosas and some tangos—to the formal music –such as "Overture 1812" and a suite of the "Swan Lake" of Tchaikovsky—, is what the Children's Symphonic Orchestra from the Department of Music of the University of Guanajuato (OSIDeMUG) prepares to please the attendees to the anniversary concert with which they'll celebrate their first three years of existence, next Thursday June 16, at 19:00hrs, in the Teatro Principal.

In an interview, M. José Rafael Melgar Azanza, Director of OSIDeMUG was satisfied with the achievements obtained in these first three years, because the interpretation level, both in soloists and together, has improved greatly, "and the most important thing is that the kids realize their evolution and that motivates them."

Furthermore, has achieved the continuity of some of the members, in this period they already have two graduates, from 17 and 18 years old, and one of them will enter the Conservatory of Celaya to continue with his preparation in music: "one of the objectives of the Orchestra has been to retain talents, to not brake with their development, and that has been achieved" said the Director, who is also a graduate from the children's section of the Department of Music of UG.

Currently, 30 young girls and boys and youth compose OSIDeMUG, from the elementary school, middle school and high school; from the cities of Guanajuato, León and Silao. In addition, it has the support of ten students from the degree in Music that are making their social service of their major by supporting the orchestra.

it is important to mention, that besides UG, in Mexico there is only other four institutions that offer formal programs (linked to a educative program of higher level) of musical initiation: the Conservatory of the Roses of Morelia, the Faculty of Music of the Universidad Veracruzana, the National Conservatory and the National School of Music of UNAM.

Form their beginning in 2013, OSIDeMUG has made a great number of concerts in important events and outstanding scenarios, such as the building of Arts of Campus Guanajuato from UG, the Park Expo Bicentennial, the State's Auditorium and the Teatro Juárez. Furthermore, has performed with other orchestras such as the Symphonic of the High School College, the Student's Symphonic of the Department of Music of UG and the school of Puerto Vallarta.

However, the goals are bigger for the director, who expects that in five years of forming OSIDeMUG, to become in the best orchestra in the state, and that its members reach the 18 years old playing with such sufficiency that could enter a national and international program.

"Not all the kids will dedicate to music, but several will continue with their musical formation. Besides the ability with an instrument, which is the main objective of the children program, the children's orchestra has many benefits, such as the development of teamwork, leadership and, of course, apply everything they learn, theoretical and practical, in the children section," affirmed M. Melgar.

The collective work done by all the members of the orchestra could be seen materialized in the anniversary concert, that is why they invite all the university community and public to attend and celebrate with them their passion for music, with the chant "Because us children are also UG."
