Guanajuato, Gto., June 13, 2016.- With a 34-year experience, Jacinto Jaramillo has become in a state referent as a source of information in the weather forecast. "The weatherman of the University" has decided to retire, nevertheless, he leaves satisfied with the work done from the House of Studies in benefit of society.
Jacinto Jaramillo has been the responsible of the Meteorological Observatory since December 1981 –although the official date of his entry was January 15th 1982—. So, he has accomplished to be renowned as a meteorologist for all the experience together throughout more than three decades.

The work in the Observatory
Jacinto Jaramillo coordinates the work among the National Meteorological Service, the National Commission of Water and the University of Guanajuato (UG). In the Atmospheric Observatory, they have several shifts to cover 24 hours "every hour we take data, process and determine with some values, such as atmospheric pressure, humidity, measuring rain, cloud classification, among other variables, and every three hours there is a compilation that is sent to the National Meteorological Service," he explains.
In half an hour the national server has all the information of the country and it is sent to Washington, to one of the world centers of meteorology that currently are four, the other three are in Moscow, Tokyo and Australia.
The importance of the Meteorological Observatory is not only to attend the media and these inform the society of possible climatic changes and even catastrophes related with weather. They also make analysis the help to have a good agriculture, knowing the temperature and rainfall; in this aspect they support the chemists in their experiments, since they have to be done with the same pressure and humidity, and this data is provided by the Observatory.
For all this, and even when Jaramillo has decided to conclude a stage in UG to dedicate more time to his family, he sustains: "I'm very satisfied of what we have accomplished and to be recognized in the State as an information source."
