Guanajuato, Gto., June 15, 2016.- The System of Environmental Handling of the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA) from Campus Guanajuato, in commemoration of the Day of the Environment, carried out the fourth edition of Reforestation in the facilities of the venue Marfil, following up their Plan of Maintenance and Reforestation.

Among the planted species, in the environment you can find, palo Prieto, acacias and colorín.

University authorities led by Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López, Director of DCEA, welcomed Eng. Jorge Humberto Villalobos Enríquez, Director of Ecology and Environment of the City of Guanajuato, the Biologist José Martín Romero González, advisor of the project, and the ninety students that joined the reforestation efforts.

Background

Within action of the System of Environmental Handling DCEA, there is the reforestation and maintenance of green areas, in fulfillment of the sub-program Efficient Handling of Green Areas, project presented in 2009, which has developed by stages.

In April 2012 there was the 1st Contest of Reforestation, with the participation of DCEA's students, who made the gardening labor in six areas.

In the period January-June 2013, following up the Project of Reforestation and Maintenance of Green Areas, they reached phase 5 at DCEA's areas, creating an impact on the awareness of caring the environment in the University community, through Scholarships of the Community and Social Service.

In the same year, but during the period August-December, the plan of maintenance and conservation of green areas of DCEA completed the phase 6 with the initiative named "Green Wednesday", with support from the students from scholarships and social service with extracurricular activities, fulfilling the objective of sensitizing and making the university community aware.

In September 2015 they carried out the las phase of the Maintenance Plan and Reforestation DCEA in the facilities of the venue Marfil, in a joint work with students from the student's organization of International Trade and 50 new-entry students from the same degree.

In 2016, with this reforestation journey, they fulfill the objective to promote the participation of the university community in actions that can be done from the local ambiance to have a positive impact in the environment –as for the nutrition of soil, proliferation of species and preservation of fauna in the zone—and, in consequence, to society.
