Guanajuato, Gto., June 17, 2016.- Commitment, humanism and talent were three important features of the work of the architect Manuel Parra, which reflects in the book "Manuel Parra: el otro arquitecto del siglo XX" which homages his legacy.

Manuel Parra was constructer, draftsman, designer or furniture, painter, ceramist, movie stager and sculptor, besides being one of the most outstanding Mexican artists from the past century.

During the presentation of the book, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino acknowledged that Parra's work is a referent in national architecture and patented the transcendence of the book as an art object, because after the physical esthetic of a text never should be set aside.

He pointed that the university knowhow is constantly seeking freedom through art and a clear example of this is the disinterested labor of the dame of Manuel Parra, since how his wife put it, Mrs. Leonor Lascurain de Parra, in his life he stood out as the man behind the artists, and this publication frames his simplicity and commitment with all the social sectors.

The delegate from the Center INAH in Guanajuato, Lic. Sergio Ramón Tovar Alvarado mentioned that Manuel Parra in his architectonic practice accumulated more than 300 houses –representative of their work--, made his legacy public so it will serve as an example for the new generations of architects, because only with the reading of this publication, it generates transcendental experiences and knowledges for life.

"Men of contemplation and silence" as defined by the Director of the Division of Architecture, Art and Design of Campus Guanajuato from UG, M. Juan Martín Aguilera Morales affirmed that architect Parra negotiated the reconciliation between the regionalism and modern art, as well as the return of a poetic architecture that had been totally lost at the end of WWII.

He added that the architect from the XX c. dominated important aspects such as sobriety, amplitude of spaces, the ambiguous relation between interior and exterior, the domain of light, among other characteristics that turned his knowhow in master pieces of the contemporary architecture.

The Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, mentioned that the architecture in Mexico gives reason of a tradition that conjugates a form of being and a good form of creating. He highlighted the beauty of the book, since it has a good distribution of the spaces and a noticeable photographic quality.

On his part, the Ambassador of Mexico in Uruguay, Lic. Francisco Arroyo Vieyra, who also participated in the co-edition of the book, recognized Manuel Parra as an icon in the Mexican architecture and said that his work must be for who dedicate to the esthetic ambiance.
