Guanajuato, Gto., June 21, 2016.- With music from Eastern Europe, the Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG), will provide the second last concert of their first season next Friday at 20:30 hours at the Teatro Principal.
Under the baton of their head director, Roberto Beltrán Zavala, OSUG will please the audience's ears, who will be able to listen three consecrated composers: Josef Suk, Zoltán Kodály and Antonín Dvořák.
"Serenade in Eb major, op. 6" for string orchestra of the Czech composer Suk, is the first work they'll play. This work was written under the recommendation of Dvořák, who felt that Suk, --who in that moment was his student in the Conservatory--, should broaden the emotional content of his compositions, which were very tragic, and experiment with more joyful works. In his composition, Suk separates from the influence of his master to create a more much original work, with a greater variety of moods.
Then, the attendees to the concert will enjoy the "Dances of Galanta" from the Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály, one of the music figures of reference in Hungary and in the world, for both his compositions and his contributions in the field of ethnomusicology.
In 1993, he composed "Dances of Galanta" to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the Philharmonic Society of Budapest. This work is integrated by five dances in a constantly accelerated rhythm with an introduction and an ending.
To close the concert, OSUG will play the "symphony No.8 in G major, op 88" from the Czech composer Atonín Dvořák.
The outstanding musician was able to compose the eighth symphony in a relaxed manner, he confessed to feel that the musical ideas overflow their mind: "If only you could write immediately" But there I have to go slowly... the melodies just emerge from me."
Due that music flows easily, it took him only twelve days to compose the first movement, another week the second, four days the third and six days the final. The orchestration was finished six week later.
