Guanajuato, Gto., June 27, 2016. Within the award ceremony for the participants of the summon to create the motto and logo of "UGénero", the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, sustained that the human rights "must represent a substantial part of the daily work in the institutions", so he thanked who enriched with their contributions the Institutional Program of Gender Equality.
In the ceremony was informed that the proposals of the graduate from the degree in Graphic Design at UG, Julio César Aldana Palma, and Génesis Monserrat Navarro Hernández, graduate from Architecture, were the winners. Aldana Palma created the logo and Génesis the motto: "Building freedom in balance." The university authorities recognized Jorge Arturo Ojeda García, Andrea García Negrete, Álvaro Ponce Peña, Óscar Guerrero Arellano, Roberto Antonio Salazar Aguiñaga, Mariana Aguilar Calderón, Héctor Adrián Estrada Salazar & Jorge Uriel Díaz Hernández; María de los Ángeles Luna Rodríguez, Asael Dueñas Mujica, Nataly Guadalupe Estrada Velázquez, Abraham Baltazar Hernández, Mtra. Sonia Karina Aguirre Flores, Dr. Andrés Escobar Gutiérrez, Abigail Berumen Pérez, Jesús Antonio Pérez Ramírez y Giovanna Natalia Herrera Rosales; José Antonio Rodríguez Aguilar, José Juan Pantoja Díaz de León, Lizeth Alexandra Morales Flores, Mariana Jiménez Vaca y Candhi Yadira Higareda Cárdenas.
In his message, Dr. Guerrero Agripino emphasized that UGénero is not build from the desk of the authorities, "it has to be an institutional program," that has the contribution of professors, students and workers from the House of Studies.
He made reference of two recently subscribed agreements by UG, one to establish –with other universities of the country and the National Comission of Human Rights—an Institutional Network in the topic of Human Rights, and another to create an Interinstitutional Master degree in Human Rights.
However, he cleared that human rights cannot only be an object of study, for the House of Studies represents a transversal topic that needs to be followed permanently, hence, the collaboration of the members from the university community is fundamental.
After handing the awards, members of the Committee of Equity and Gender from UG revealed which actions haven been done to fulfill the objective of UGénero and listened to proposals onwards the construction of a respectful culture of human rights, inside and outside the university enclosures.
