Guanajuato, Gto., June 28, 2016.- With two concerts, one in the city of Leon and other in the capital of the state, the Symphonic Orchestra from the University of Guanajuato (OSUG) will conclude its first season of the year.
Under the baton of its head director, Roberto Zavala Beltrán and with the talented violinist Karen Su as a guest, OSUG will please the audience with the interpretation of two great pieces.
In the beginning, there will be a premiere in Guanajuato with "Tres cantos a Edurne" from the Mexican composer Mario Lavista. It is worth mentioning that this piece was recently created, since it was composed in 2010 by order of the Symphonic Orchestra of Euskadi, the own Mario Lavista refers to "Tres cantos a Edurne" as a religious piece, "it has three brief parts that occur one after the other uninterrupted," filled with peculiar colors and certain melodic twists.
Afterwards, OSUG will play a piece of Jean Sibelius, "Concert for violin in D minor, Op. 47." The music of the Finnish composer is inspired in the nature and the Finnish legends.
This concert for violin has formal innovations, but beyond that, it complements with the stylish characteristics of the language of Sibelius such as the broad and austere melodies of dark and melancholic character, the static harmony, the vigorous rhythms and the original deep voice tones of the wooden instruments.
The "Symphony no. 5 in D minor, Op. 47" from the consecrated Russian composer Dimitri Shostakóvich will be the piece that OSUG will conclude its season with. Shostakóvich was a highly proficient composer, and his catalogue covers almost all the genre: opera, musical comedy, symphony, work for piano, concert music, cantata, string quartet and movie music.
It is worth mentioning that when the "Symphony no. 5 in D minor" Op. 47" premiered in 1937, it had an enormous success and received an applause for at least 40 minutes.
The symphony is structured in four intertwined movements as a kaleidoscope with motives and instrumental combination that occur in several waves to finish in a triumphant and luminous coda.
It is worth mentioning that the guest soloist Karen Su is 17 years old, she began studying violin with his father Elmer Su, at the early age of 3. At 4 years old, she continued her study with professors Igor and Vesna Gruppman. Throughout seven years, Karen had 18 first places in the Youth Southwestern Festival of Music. She received the first place in ASTA in the area of Los Angeles. She was awarded with the scholarship by the Association of Music Professors, just to mention some distinctions.
Thursday June 30th is when the concert will happen in the city of León in the Teatro del Bicentenario at 20:30. While on Friday July 1st it will be at Teatro Juárez in capital Guanajuato also at 20:30.
