
UG student was accepted into a direct Ph.D. at Manchester University
Guanajuato, Gto., June 29, 2016.- "Research is one my greatest passions, I discovered my calling at the University of Guanajuato, institution which has given me a first level comprehensive education", said Gerardo de Jesús Campos Villalobos, student in the last semester of Sustainable Chemical Engineering from the Division of Science and Engineering.
Thanks to his passion, recently, he was selected to make a direct Ph.D. at Manchester University in the UK. In addition, this summer will make a stay at the California University in San Diego, place where he will be working in the molecular modeling of solutions.
Internationalization is one of the features the University of Guanajuato provides to grant an education of quality to its students, Gerardo is proof of it, since, previously, he studied in London.
In an interview, Gerardo de Jesús Campos said that for over a year he has worked with Ph.D. Gil Villegas, head professor at the University of Guanajuato, who has oriented him to make his research applicable to different industries and also have an impact both national and international.
"With Ph.D. Gil Villegas I am making my major thesis, which I'm about to finish and cover a physical-chemical process done by nature which is adsorption, same that basically is a separation process and applies to many industries", said the student.
Another research where he is involved, have to do with the ease to extract oil through the injection of a gas in the soil. Likewise, commented "during my professional studies I also worked in a project on Carbon Dioxide in the Imperial College of London with the group of Chemical Engineering, this experience helped me to develop better as a researcher."
Currently, Gerardo is getting ready with the preparations for his Ph.D. at Manchester University, highlighted that the achievements he had concreted during the start of his professional life, in part, he owes it to the tools provided by the University of Guanajuato, "all the professors do their jobs in the best way possible, besides they help you face the job world from knowledge, that is something I will always appreciate of my education.
