
León, Gto., July 4, 2016.- A group of experts in health participated in the seminar called: The importance of AGEs in the diabetes patient's nutrition, in which they revealed the most recent studies of the End Results of Advanced Glycation.
AGEs are elements present in food and have an impact in health by speeding ageing, in addition of propitiating the appearance of other chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. The event occurred in the auditorium of the Department of Medicine and Nutrition of Campus León of the University of Guanajuato.
During the seminar, Dr. Ma. Dolores del Castillo from the Universidad de Chile addressed the study made to the components of coffee where they found an element called "Hull substrate" which presents possible preventive effects in the development of diabetes and high antioxidant capability.
She informed that in the analysis they have made to the substance, it's the application of techniques to know the nutrimental elements and the preventive effects, for example: in the case of colon cancer. Likewise, studies the positive effects of caffeine and chlorogenic acid to which they attribute many benefic properties for health.
On her part, Dr. Maria Eugenia Garay, Director of the Department of Medical Science from Campus León highlighted the relevance of the topic since the country occupies the first place in obesity in the world and it is the greatest consumer of sugary beverages, in addition to a high index of sedentariness in society which has causes a public health problem.
In her intervention, Dr. Garay indicated that recent studies showed that processed food, mainly canned, meat products and sugary beverages have a large quantity of AGEs.
Finally, they invited the attendees to presence a seminar which will be held in Chile in September 26th to 29th, where they'll reveal progress related to the topic in which the researchers from different countries collaborate in.
