León, Gto., July 6, 2016.- With the participation of more than 40 students from different educational programs of Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG), began the program Summer School "Feel-think the city", organized by the Academic body "Culture & Art" from the Department of Cultural Studies.

Such program has activities from July 4th to 8th, days in which the students with scholarships will participate in conferences, workshops and tours with the interest of covering relevant topics for arts and human studies.

M.A. Héctor Gómez Vargas was responsible of inaugurating the activities with the conference "Live in the city: cities of the city", where he made an analysis of the different artistic, cultural and social dynamics that are present in important cities of the world and allow an interaction of the habitants with the spaces, actors, moments and circumstances that generate a reconstruction and interpretation of the artistic elements.

He mentioned cities such as France, London, New York, Mexico City and León are attractive for the new visual culture in which the perception of the urban scenarios and scenography represent a different meaning for each one of the people, so he proposes an approach to the artistic manifestations beyond image. "To understand the visual artistic proposals, is not enough to watch, we have to intervene with research," he commented.

M.A. Vargas exposed examples of the phenomena lived in the city of León where for some of the habitants, those social manifestations are common and for others represent an artistic proposal interpreted from the perspective and knowledge of the receiver.

"The murals of San Juan de Dios' graveyard bring the city to life, same as the gathering points like Plaza Expiatorio and the Puente del Amor, are elements that allow the interaction of the people with the city and the city with people," he expressed.
