Guanajuato, Gto., July 13, 2016.- With a total of 415 artists, the University of Guanajuato (UG) will participate in the "Festival Internacional Cervantino (FIC)" (International Cervantine Festival) in the 44th edition which will celebrate in October 2nd to 23rd 2016.

Thirteen universities venues will be the stages of the artistic manifestations gathered in the festivity of spirit, besides participating with 92 events, where 20 are inserted in the theme of Cervantes' death anniversary. Teatro Juárez was the stage to present the General Program of Activities FIC 2016 with the honor guests, the city of Jalisco and Spain.

The General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, assured that it is important to rescue the legacy of Cervantes, as well as the immortality of their work which transcends in artistic expressions inscribed in the imagination, in the thought and the expression modes of all the towns. He affirmed that it is time to commemorate the cervantist legacy he taught, through literature, where the inconformity and rebellion are possible through art.

Finally, he exhorted to participate in the new FIC's edition, done with the solemnity required by the act, but also appealed to the quijotesca imposition to bring joy to the festivity, "we summon the world with force of Mexicans, we tell them, we will wait for you in October in a place of Mexico whose name you'll never forget: Guanajuato" he finalized.

In this matter, FIC's Director, Ph.D. Jorge Volpi said that there will be more than 700 activities, in charge of 3,500 artists from 38 countries. He assured that with the program "Cervantes 400, from Insanity to Idealism", the festival organizes one of the greatest celebrations in the world to commemorate the four centuries of Quijote's death.

He added that the FIC commissioned ten musicals, one opera and eleven theatre montages. As part of the project Beethoven, they'll interpret the sixteen string quartets in charge of American String Quartet and Emerson String Quartet. Also there will be eight presentations of the Entremeses Cervantinos from Teatro Universitario of UG, artistic expression that was the origin of this festival.

In his intervention, the State Governor, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez, said that this year the Festival will join a Cervantine Colloquium to involve culture, arts and academy. HE added that Guanajuato is ready to receive the artistic creators, from which, 1,084 are artists from the state.

Among UG's activities is the Movie Club billboard; you will be able to enjoy the traditional clothing and dance quality of the Folkloric ballet (BAFUG); the musical elegance of the Symphonic Orchestra (OSUG); the vibrant voices of the Choir; the famous Estudiantina and the traditional participation of the Theater Group Universitario.

At the presentation of FIC 2016's official program there was the presence of the Head of the Secretary of Culture, Lic. Saúl Juárez Vega representing the Secretary of Culture, Dr. Myriam Vachez Plagnol, representing the governor of Jalisco; his Excellency Ambassador of Spain in Mexico, Mr. Luis Fernández-Cid de las Alas Pumariño; the municipal president of Guanajuato, Lic. Edgar Castro Cerrilo.

As well as the Secretary of Tourism, Lic. Fernando Olivera Rocha; the General Director of the State Institute of Culture, Dr. Juan Alcocer Flores; the President of the Cervantine Foundation Enrique y Alicia Ruelas A.C., Dr. Enrique Ruelas Barajas; and the Gral. Directorof the Iconographic Museum of Quijote, M.A. Onofre Sánchez Menchero; and the President of the H. State Congress, Local Congressman Juan Gabriel Villafaña Covarrubias.
