Guanajuato, Gto., July 14, 2016.- Discipline and perseverance are the words that define the student Monicamiguel Muñoz Olmedo, law student, who in just six months of preparation conquered the first place in the National Championship of Sambo.

In this competition she had more than three combats per day, in which se crowned as champion by defeating the student from the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) by technical superiority of 8 points, maximum score.

Throughout the championship, athletes from the Universidad Autónoma Nacional de México (UNAM) and the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), together with UAQ participated; and they are the houses of study that maintain strong teams in this discipline.

The Physical Trainer Julio Espinosa and Nutritionist Hugo Espinosa, national champions and international medal holders, are who train Monicamiguel Muñoz who in addition of the required physical condition for this sport, she also has a very planned nourishment.

With 11 years practicing sports similar to Sambo, the student was training since January 2016 and in no time she got her pass to the next World Competition of Sambo in Belgium and to the Pan-American Games.

Her experience in this championship represented a great effort since they are not easy combats, the final round extended 3 minutes of the official competition. On the matter, she said to be "happy because she fulfilled the promise I made when I requested support from UG, which was to place in the best position of the tournament."

The UG student expressed gratitude to her family who has always supported her and mentions that in her competitions has obtained better results when they assist.

Her four brothers make her aware that it is a great responsibility that will prove in the following competitions that without a doubt will raise the level and represent a greater effort.

Muñoz Olmedo is not only an outstanding athlete but also a dedicated student since she is also part of UG debate team which in past April won the first place of the Inter-universities debate Contest, organized by the Municipal Institute of Youth of Irapuato and the Instituto Electoral del Estado de Guanajuato (IEEG).
