Guanajuato, Gto., July 22, 2016.- The researcher from the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Juan Manuel Peralta Hernández works in developing water treatment technologies.
These water treatment methods use different advanced oxidation techniques, which are processes whose main characteristic is the generation of oxidant species that allow the degradation of the pollutants of the vital liquid.
The electron is a clean reagent and it is mainly used in this procedure, same that allows to maintain a control on diverse factors that intervene in the process, which turns it into a non-selective technique.
This treatment offers several advantages among which stand out the high level of efficiency, security, easy implementation and it doesn't generate residue that affect the environment.
In an interview, Ph.D. Peralta mentions that such technique eliminates great quantities of water pollutants such as drugs, colorants, industrial materials and pesticides; in addition, they seek that in the future these technologies become a referent for the treatment of water from different origins and even achieve the purification.
This project could be a great transcendence change, especially in rural communities where there are no water treatment plants or systems that carry them out, since it is a technically and economically viable method.
Ph.D. Juan Manuel mentions that they have already worked with some industries in the development of prototypes, which have functioned satisfactorily, but still continues in elaboration for a greater reach.
This research belongs to the Academic Body of Environmental Electrochemistry from UG, who has done collaborations with the University of Barcelona, where students make research stays, visit the institutions and also provided a development of articles that already have been published, which has generated the establishment of liaison with different kinds of businesses.
Currently seven students from major, master and doctorate degrees collaborate in the research, and Dr. Peralta invites all interested students to know more about the topic since it has an important repercussion in society.
