
Guanajuato, Gto., July 28, 2016.- At the University of Guanajuato (UG) was held the Institutional Congress of the Scientific Research Summers, in which were presented the results from the projects developed by 452 students of Mexico and abroad throughout five weeks.
At the opening ceremony of the Congress, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, recognized the effort of who has worked to achieve the growth of the program which was created 22 years ago and currently has five modalities that allow the students to collaborate directly with a researcher, and link with companies or governmental institutions.
The General Rector pointed out that the Scientific Research Summer of UG makes possible for the student to learn from his advisor and he from the student, in an ambience of contribution and collaboration, which turns research "into a privileged exercise."
Welcoming the participants, the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, said that UG fulfills the objective to encourage the scientific callings and celebrated that the University participates in the search of solutions to social problems from research.
He reminded that this year was created the modality "ingenious ideas", aimed for work groups that develop a project to attend a social, scientific or technological.
The program has other four categories: Scientific Research Summer for students enrolled in bachelor programs at UG and the state of Tabasco; Scientific Research Summer for Excellence Students of Mexico or abroad; Scientific Research Summer for UG's high school students, and Scientific Research Summer in Companies and Governmental Dependencies.
In his intervention, the Director of Support for Research and Postgraduate from UG, Dr. Mauro Napsuciale Mendivil, affirmed that a fundamental part of the summer program is the exposition of results in the Congress, since it constitutes the space where other scientists enrich the works with their observations.
Representing the students, Olga Estefanía Escobar Flórez, from the Universidad Simón Bolivar of Colombia, sustained that this program contributes to encourage liaisons with foreign universities; encourages the multi-culturalism, and offers the youth to "enjoy science", as well as the opportunity to develop new knowledge.
At the opening ceremony of the Congress were also present the rectors from Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Ernesto Alfredo Camarena Aguilar; from Campus Celaya, Dr. Ma. Guadalupe Ojeda Vargas; from Campus León, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez; the Director of the High School College, QFB. Martha Oliva Gallaga Ortega; UG's Pro Vost, Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa; the Academic Secretary, Dr. José Luis Lucio Martínez; and the Director of Liaison, Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro.
As special guests, attended the Director of the Council of Science and Technology from the State of Tabasco, M.A. Mirna Cecilia Villanueva Guevara, and the researcher from the Department of Sciences, Centro Universitario de la Costa, Universidad de Guadalajara, Dr. Juan Luis Cifuentes Lemus, who dictated the magister conference "Wetlands of México."
