Guanajuato, Gto., July 28, 2016.- With the motive of the XII Cultural Week 2016 "Salud-Arte" made in the "Centro Estatal de Reinserción" Social (CERESO for its acronym in Spanish) of San Miguel de Allende from August 1st to 5th, Campus Guanajuato will present three artistic proposals.
On August 2nd, Laura Estela Vázquez Rodríguez, responsible of Projects of High Social Impact and Liaison, and M.A. Soledad Castillo, responsible of the Postgraduate Unit, will hold an Artistic Expression Workshop; on August 3rd the Collective "Percutiendo Entiendo" will present and on August 4th will be the turn of the Group Collective Creation, both from the degree in Scenic Arts from the Department of Arts.
In an interview, the Lic. Cecilia Mata, Technical Vice Director of the CENSOR, commented that the general objective of the cultural weeks is to fulfill what is written in the National Law of Penal Execution, that marks that the inmates must have access to art, culture and education, as one of the main axis of the reinsertion; besides promoting and using art as a mean of expression of the emotions as well as to generate interests to learn among the interns and develop their creative potential.
He also said that the participation of the University of Guanajuato (UG) in cultural activities within CENSORs of the state goes back to at least 2008, and not only in the cultural weeks, but every day, thanks to the extension and liaison agreements for which UG teaches art workshops (music, singing, theater, scenography, folkloric dance, etc.), in addition of work training workshops, that are a huge benefit for the inmates.
Through these actions, Campus Guanajuato strengthens the University Extension as a commitment that has with the community, beyond teaching and research.
