Salamanca, Gto. July 28, 2016.- The Division of Engineering from the University of Guanajuato (UG) was selected as a remote venue of the 28th edition of the International Biennial of Science Film of Ronda, Spain (BICC-Ronda 2016).

From August to November, they'll project in the UG's venue Salamanca, audiovisual works from researchers and artists from different countries, that show results of researches from the field of science, technology and innovation, or with interest in any phenomena of nature.

That is how Dr. Cristina Margarita Gómez Sarabia informed, professor-researcher at the Department of Art and Business, and negotiator for the remote venue in the Division of Engineering.

The festival of Scientific Cinema of Science and Technology pioneer in Spain and Europe since 1977, is organized by the Spanish Association of Science Film and Image (ASECIC for its acronym in Spanish), who invites all member institutions of the University Corporation for the Development of Internet A.C. (CUDI) to participate as remote venues under an innovative format of Multi-Venue Festival in Europe and Latin America.

The festival's mission is to promote the images and sounds of, from and for science as a strategic tool in the development, creation, research and innovation of the scientific knowledge and education in general.

The BICC-Ronda has tried to take advantage of the actual academic networks and of scientific research to present a new festival proposal, that provides greater visibility and global presence with remote projections in venues in Ibero America. Under this modality, UG could project winning audiovisual works or finalists of the BICC-Ronda or guest festivals.

In a next date, it will be revealed the programme of the screenings, although, it is worth to mention, that there are also interactive encounters with experts in the biennial as well, to open spaces for scientific communication between the two continents.

The remote venues can project and choose among the prized and finalist audiovisual works of the XXVII edition BICC Ronda 2014, plus audiovisual works from the Spanish Association of Science Film and Image (ASESC) at Espiello, as well as the audiovisual works from the guest festival: Contemporary Science Film Festival, Russian science films.
