Guanajuato, Gto., August 1, 2016.- The exchange students for this school cycle Aug-Dec 2016, arrived to the University of Guanajuato (UG) to begin an experience which will positively influence in their academic and personal career.

In a welcome and farewell ceremony for students participating in the Program of Interinstitutional Mobility (PMI), 226 students were welcomed, from which 131 are foreign and 95 are Mexican, coming from distinct national and international educational institutions.

Equally, the University of Guanajuato gave the farewell to 132 of its students, 120 of are going abroad and 12 to Mexican universities. In his welcome message, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, mentioned that the student mobility is a substantial part of the university, at the same time he indicated: "for a university to be such, must open its doors so students from other countries can enter and we must provide the same possibilities to our students to they complete the formation in other universities in Mexico and other countries in the world."

To the student community that incorporates, Dr. Guerrero made them aware that the University of Guanajuato is an institution with rich history and tradition, same that has the fundamental purpose of the comprehensive formation and learning of its students.

Likewise, to the leaving students he told them "you have roots in this house of studies and you have wings to fly onto other latitudes, contexts and realities, hence, your return will be fruitful for you, for the University of Guanajuato and for society."

Representing the students that go in exchange, Rodrigo León Flores, students from the degree in Political Science who will make an academic stay at the University of Foreign Studies of Tokyo, expressed: "let us be lucky to have this opportunity. Let us also be aware of the responsibility we have and use the opportunity to know the diversity that enriches us as a human race."

The students who arrived come from the following countries: Germany Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, USA, France, Japan, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Paraguay, Peru and Sweden.

UG students will travel to Germany, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, Spain, USA, France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and Uruguay.

At the event were present: The Academic Secretary, Dr. José Luis Lucio Martínez; the Director of International Relationships and Academic Collaboration, Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz; and the exchange student from France, Jonathan Luchier.
