Guanajuato, Gto., August 3, 2016.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) and the "Poder Judicial del Estado de Guanajauato" signed a collaboration agreement to promote in the university community the reaches and implications of the "Sistema Integral de Justicia Penal para Adolescentes" (Comprehensive System of Criminal Justice for teenagers).
In the beginning, the agreement established that specialized personnel of the criminal system will train high school professors, who will divulge among their peers and students the function of the National Law of the Criminal Justice System for Teenagers, the reaches of the norm –applicable for minors between 12 and 18 years old—and how to avoid being the object of crimes.
By subscribing to the agreement, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, reminded that the University has two subsystems, the higher and high level, the latter –with a population of more than 11,000 students—fosters minors, which implies a great responsibility for the institution.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the House of Studies to offer a comprehensive formation to its students, from the obligation to adhere to actions such as the proposed by the "Poder Judicial" to promote a culture of legality and peace.
The President of the Supreme Court and the Council of the "Poder Judicial del Estado de Guanajuato", Magister Miguel Valadez Reyes, explained that facing the recent change in the Comprehensive System of Legal Justice for Teenagers, it is necessary to diffuse, socialize and culturize on the reform's implications.
To do so, they backed with the University of Guanajuato, so through the High School College they divulged in the schools that compose this subsystem. Hence, he thanked the generosity from UG, to which he referred as the most important institution of higher education and with more prestige in the state.
The Magister and also professor of the House of Studies, highlighted that besides the technical knowledge, with this agreement they seek to strengthen crime prevention, since they expect that knowing the system and its legal implication of their actions, the youth will avoid be participants of these processes.
Given the relevance of this act, attended the agreement signing, --besides the President—all the "Poder Judicial" Council Members: Lic. Román Arias Muñoz, Lic. Sergio López García, Lic. Joel Estrella Cruz, and the General Secretary of the council, M.A. Luis Eugenio Serrano Ortega. Likewise, was present the Director of UG's High School College, QFB. Martha Oliva Gallaga Ortega.
