
Guanajuato, Gto., August 3, 2016.- A series of international choreographies of folkloric dance will be presented at the city of Guanajuato thanks to the International Council of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts.
The University of Guanajuato joins efforts with such council to organize a festival in which will participate: Hungary, Russia, Haiti, Canada and Mexico, which will be held from August 8th to 14th at the Teatro Principal and the Plazuela San Roque.
The artistic group that will represent Mexico will be the Folkloric Ballet of the University of Guanajuato (BAFUG), this was announced at a press conference in which the Director of Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud and BAFUG's Director, Roberto Martínez Rocha, participated.
BAFUG's director, indicated that with this festival they pretend to preserve and diffuse the intangible heritage from diverse culture with dance. In addition of being BAFUG's director, Roberto is also the state delegate in Guanajuato of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts, that's is why he has worked as the main promoter of the event.
The interested public will be able to enjoy the special programs that every country prepared. Next Monday August 8th, the opening will be held at the Teatro Juárez (with an included tour) to begin at 12:00 hrs.
The dance show will begin on Tuesday August 9th with the presentation of Hungary, Wednesday August 10th will be Russia and Thursday August 11th, will be the turn of Haiti, all the functions will be held at the Teatro Principal and will begin at 19:00hrs. Regarding the event of Canada, this will be held in the Plazuela San Roque, Friday at 19:00 hours. These activities will have a general cost of $50.00 MXN.
It is worth mentioning that BAFUG will be participating with its choreographies every day of the festival, in which they will please the audience with dances such as sonnets from Veracruz, prehispanic dances, potpourri from Chiapas and traditional dances from Guanajuato.
Besides dancing, this international festival will have the expo of popular arts such as singing, handcraft, music and traditional games of every country.
The director of Cultural Extension of the University of Guanajuato, invited all the university community and the public to attend each one of the presentations, she highlighted a great opportunity to know the folklore from different regions of the world.
It is precise to mention that besides the presentations in Guanajuato, the participant dance groups will be taking their dance to San Luis de la Paz, San José Iturbide and Celaya.
To finalize, both BAFUG's director and Dr. Sara Julsrud, thanked the support from diverse government instances: the municipal city hall of Guanajuato, San José Iturbide and San Luis de la Paz, the State Institute of Culture and the Secretary of Tourism.
