Guanajuato, Gto., August 6, 2016.- The professor of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Morelos Torres Aguilar reveals the proposals that have marked the history of education in a state in the south of Mexico with his book "Aproximaciones a la historia de la educación en Chiapas. Iniciativas de enseñanza en el Siglo XIX."
This publication parts from a pedagogic, institutional and social perspective, and pretends to provide talents to comprehend that the education in the country cannot continue staying back where it is now, since it is necessary to overcome their quality so many young Mexicans can compete anywhere in the world.
Throughout his career as a historian, Dr. Torres Aguilar has honed his research line in the topic of the history of the initiatives and cultural & educational institutions, especially after the publication of his first books, edited by the Coordination of Humanities from UNAM, titled "Cultura y Revolución. La Universidad Popular Mexicana (Ciudad de México, 1912-1920)."
The head professor at the Department of Cultural Studies of Campus León was a full-time professor some years ago at the Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas, and as a result of it emerged his interest to know what initiatives about education developed in such state during the XIX century, as well as the successes, failures, methods and great educators that characterized the difficult development that the teaching followed in the entity in that period.
In an interview, Dr. Torres Aguilar affirms that the parts the conform his work exemplify a process in many states, meaning, that despite the fact that in that time Chiapas was conceived as an isolated and distant entity, the initiatives of education generated in the entity result similar to the ones that existed in other states, so there maybe parallelisms and interrelations among diverse places of the Republic in this field.
To finalize, he mentions that education is a central topic for the national policy, and that it is fundamental to understand where does the country have to transit to, towards a future different than the past that Dr. Torres Aguilar has found in his research, since these have allowed him to comprehend that the education in Mexico has accumulated a reasonable lag, due to its low quality.
It is important to mention that the book is a pioneer in the subject and that it was edited and supported by the Direction of Support for Research and Postgraduate from UG and the Faculty of Humanities from the University of Science and Arts of Chiapas.
