
Guanajuato, Gto., August 15, 2016.- As part of the activities of the programing of "Culture, welcome" from the University of Guanajuato, there will be the cycle "Soul Power Music & Cinema."
This is the third time such cycle of African American cinema and music is done. The event is promoted by the University Cinema Club as an initiative of the Direction of Cultural Extension in collaboration with Radio Universidad of Guanajuato.
The programme of "Soul Power Music & Cinema" offers to all audiences a space to know the cultural tradition of the African American communities in United States, through a film selection that represents the last years of the XX century and a radio production that creates a musical tour from that historical time.
Such cycle begins on August 15th and ends next Friday August 19th, the cinema projections will be held at the Euquerio Guerrero Hall and will be free entrance.
The movies that the attendees will be able to enjoy divide in categories such as: Documentary Mondays, History Tuesday, Jazz Wednesday in the silver screen, Comedy Thursday and Old School Cinema Friday.
Among the cinema selection you can find movies such as "When we were kings," "12 Years a Slave," "Round Midnight," "Diary of a Mad Black woman," "Dear white people," just to mention some.
As for the radio programme, there will be live broadcasts from different points in the city, where they will cheer with wide selection of music in charge of the cycle's curator, professor Steven Johnson.
The listeners will be able to tune the radio on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 at 19:15 through the frequencies of Radio Universidad de Guanajuato: 970 AM and 100.7 FM in Guanajuato; 91.1FM in León and 91.3FM in San Miguel de Allende.
